Sweetlax JW1 Showcase draws top coaches to work with players

(Winter Park, FL) - Sweetlax and JW1 Lacrosse is proud to announce that Sergio Salcido will be joining the Showcase Camp on January 7th and 8th at Ward Park in Winter Park. Salcido, from Winter Park is entering his Senior year on the Syracuse University lacrosse team and was elected Captain by his teammates. “We’re very pleased to have Sergio come work with the Florida players,” commented Kevin Martin, Director of College Recruitment with Sweetlax Lacrosse, “he is a great example of how hard work and dedication translate into success on the field”.  Salcido was honored by the USILA as a second team All-American after this past season in addition to being named to the All ACC Team. He started all 17 games for Syracuse setting career highs in goals with 29, as well as in assists with 24, both of which ranked second highest on the team.

“Sergio is one of over a dozen Syracuse players that have either worn the Sweetlax uniform or coached our boys,” Martin added, “he is a great ambassador for the sport of lacrosse and especially a great example for the players down here in Florida”. Salcido will participate on both Saturday, January 7th (Youth event for 2021, 2022, 2023) and January 8th (High School event for 2018, 2019, 2020). He will be working with players alongside past teammate and previous two-time Syracuse Captain Hakeem Lecky along with a number of College Head and Assistant Coaches from Loyola, Notre Dame, Princeton, Towson, Colgate, University of Albany, LeMoyne, Mercer, High Point, Hartford, Bucknell, Tampa, Lynn, Lehigh, Jacksonville and Tufts amongst others.

Joining them will be Team USA and Professional MLL player Joe Walters whose company, JW1 is co-sponsoring the two-day event. “By partnering with Joe we bring a whole other dimension to the Showcase Camp,” Chelsea Henderson, Event Director commented, “Joe is another example of how hard work and dedication translate to success on the field. We’re excited to have someone with Joe’s experience as an All American, a very successful player in both the MLL and NLL and Team USA member along with players like Sergio and Hakeem coach with the great mix of College Coaches we have attending”.  Henderson went on to add, “they will be available for a Q and A session with parents and players which we see as a great value add. Having schools from DI, DII and DIII will provide a great snapshot covering any player’s interest in continuing their game at the college level”.

The youth and high school event is open to all male lacrosse players in the respective graduation years. Registration for the event can be found at, www.jw1lacrosse.com/jw1showcase.
