Biography
Matt Kunkel is a native to Long Island, New Yorker. He grew up playing
football, basketball, and lacrosse for Ward Melville High School, one of the top premier public schools for athletics on the island. As a junior and senior in high school Matt was rewarded with Long Island athletics honors in football,
basketball, and lacrosse. Too add to his Long Island athletic accomplishments, in his senior year of lacrosse he was voted First Team All-American by USILA.
After graduating from Ward Melville, Matt was recruited by Duke University to play lacrosse for John Danowski and the Blue Devils. In his tenure at Duke he helped the Blue Devils to yet another ACC Championship in 2012, along with the programs 2nd National Championship. He was a valuable asset on the field as an underclassman serving on the man down unit and as an upperclassman Matt spent a great deal of time mentoring the younger players while also being an asset to the close defensive unit and man down team.
Currently Matt resides in Jupiter Florida where he works as a Regional Sales Manager and also a Varsity Assistant Coach at Martin County High School, a program in which is run by his fellow SweetLax Coach, Justin VanTassel.
