After the 2006 season he was an Assistant Coach for the Nationally Ranked Junior College Essex (MD) Knights under Head Coach Brian Duncan. Coach Alford's duties during practice were helping run offensive or defensive drills under the direction of each offensive or defensive coordinators. On game days he was relied upon to individually coach the players as they came off the field. In 2008 the Knights were runners-up in the National Championship losing to Nassau Community College and also made the Final Four in 2009.

TO FULLY ACHIEVE ONE'S GOAL, A SWEETLAX PLAYER MUST PLACE A HEAVY EMPHASIS ON TEAMWORK AND WORK EQUALLY AS HARD IN THE CLASSROOM AS THEY DO ON THE FIELD.
